  • Elizabeth Gage (1937)

Elizabeth Gage has been a prominent figure in British jewellery since the 1970s, renowned for her distinctive reinterpretations of historical and cultural styles.

She studied design at London’s Chelsea School of Art and Sir John Cass College before training as a goldsmith. After six years in the field, she received her first major commission in 1968, designing a collection for Cartier New York. She later founded her own business and launched a boutique in central London.

With iconic pieces such as the Tapered Templar Rings and Agincourt Rings, she won the De Beers Diamonds International Award in 1972, further cementing her reputation in the world of fine jewellery. In 1989, she was awarded the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement.

Since 2013, Gage has been part of the Victoria & Albert Museum's permanent jewellery collection, which acquired two of her pieces. Often inspired by antiquity, she is known for her bold designs, featuring richly textured gold, vibrant cabochon gemstones, and intricate enamel work.
